This is becoming a trend: Ankara by request/ my pleasure

In progress in the House of DonNaturaL

Coral reef: I meant coral Caftan

I was inspired by my sewing mentor To make this fabulous vintage caftan with this pattern.

My sewing mentor posted On Beaute Jadore blog here

The fabric is African Lace gifted to me by a colleague. Yay me!

I shorted the pattern 17 inches

I used the selvage for the decorative scalloped edges it had.

I cut the middle pattern price in half , attached with a 15 inch v neck and faced with …you guessed it the scalloped salvaged edge.

The selvage also became the belt (above)

Now I need an event to wear this to.

This dress right here: blue everything.

I am still perfecting the wrap dress. This one is a game changer.

Cobalt blue fabric from Mood Found here

And the African Wax fabric I had in my stash. Nice to know a seamstress that throws away their scraps. Lol

I used the same Butterick Pattern from my last post for the bodice.

I self drafted the bottom.

Here’s a tip: just clip where darts should be , then try on the garment before sewing. This made such a huge difference with the fit.

I am sew Happy.

She loved it!!!

Short sleeve rain coat and hat: Why? Because it’s S/S15

This coat was made with This Burda Bell Coat

The Material was a gamble that I got from Mood which is unfortunately sold out.

And the following alterations.

I CUT THE SLEEVES OFF.

I ADDED TOP STICHING TO SLEEVES BODY OF THE COAT.

ADDED A COLLAR

This fabric frays super easy so I serged all the pieces.

I’m a beginner so I still keep the patterns with the cut material.

See the fray.

I love this entry level serger by brother.

I still pin. I’m obsessed with well approximated ends.

Sewing starts at the cutting table.

A dress form comes in handy when you are trying alterations.

This is the back

OMG I DRAPED THIS COLAR AND LOVED IT SO MUCH. I ADDED PINS AND SEWED IT.

WHOOOO HOOOO I LOVE MY LOGO

I ALSO ADDED A RAIN HAT. I CANT WAIT FOR IT TO RAIN

Just a hint of skin: on trend for S/S15

This outfit was challenging and fun all at the same time.

No pattern self drafted, well the top was from v8815 that I reshaped the neck and back.

Eyelet was fun to work with.

Leather was fun just go very very slow. Use Nylon or ulpostery thread. I had to piece some together which created a design element.
